About Kaia Hugin
Through moving image, photography and installation, Kaia explores themes such as nature belonging, mobility, power and resistance, endurance and hope.
Kaia seeks inspiration in the impulses from the reptilian brain, and from the adaptable body as well as the body's ability to create form. She has a great interest in cinematic possibilities and the body's encounter with the camera. In Kaia's artistic practise the physical and real – the body, nature and gravity – melt together with the logic of dreams and abstract experiences.
Kaia did her MA in fine art at the Faculty of Fine Art in Bergen (2011). She has received the Sparebankstiftelsen DNB NOR's art scholarship. Kaia has exhibited, among other places, at Atelier Nord, NO, Deichman Bjørvika NO, Fotogalleriet Format, SE, Vigeland-Museet, NO, Oslo Kunstforening, NO, Frankfurter Kunstverein, DE, Whitechapel Gallery, London and La Capella, Barcelona.
